Job Summary: 

The Family Support Specialist will utilize the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum to develop strong working relationships with families in order to assist them in having a better understanding of child development, improve parent-child interactions, and strengthen family well-being.  The Parent Educator will work with families in initiating goal development and developing transition plans that secure families’ involvement in their community.  The Parent Educator will link children and families to the necessary services and supports; will provide referrals to Early Intervention when appropriate; and will work cooperatively with EI, DCFS, WIC, Health Department, Doctors, and school district personnel.  There will be significant travel throughout McHenry County, with periodic out- of-county meetings/trainings. This is a grant funded position; therefore, the duties and/or requirements of the position may be modified as required by the funding source. 

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Occasional night and/or weekend work

Job Summary: 

The family educator/autism support specialist empowers autistic people and their families by building rapport, developing and working toward client-centered goals, and coordinating care among multiple community partners. Additionally, the family educator/autism support specialist participates in a variety of Autism Resource Center activities, including group facilitation, community training, and other initiatives aimed at making McHenry County more inclusive and enriching the lives of our clients.

Job Summary: 

The educational advocate/autism support specialist empowers autistic people and their families by modeling productive collaboration with school teams, communicating details of special education law and parental rights in the special education process, consulting with school staff to encourage best practice in the education of autistic students, and participating objectively in IEP meetings to advocate in the student’s best interest. Additionally, the educational advocate/autism support specialist participates in a variety of Autism Resource Center activities, including group facilitation, community training, collaboration with community partners, and other initiatives aimed at making McHenry County more inclusive and enriching the lives of our clients.

Happy Family

Autism Resource Center-ARC provides support to McHenry County residents who identify as being on the autism spectrum and to their families. Nearly all services are provided at no cost.

Job Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Autism Resource Center Program Manager, the Bilingual Liaison (BL) will primarily support the Autism Resource Center (ARC) team by providing family support via interpretation and translation of: resources, referrals, linkage to community supports, daily email communications, professional documents, phone calls, home visits, and community trainings. The Bilingual Liaison will assist with all ARC intakes.

 

The Bilingual Liaison (BL) will cross train on all program intake processes in order to assist and backup other departments at Options & Advocacy. The BL may serve as a bridge of communication between families and staff within all Options & Advocacy’s programs.

 

The Bilingual Liaison is to support our agency mission of building a more inclusive community through their participation on agency committees, attending agency events, and supporting the translation of agency outreach materials.

Job Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the Child and Family Connections Program Manager, the Service Coordinator will assist families in navigating the Early Intervention system through intake, Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) development, and transition at age 3 years; will link children and families to the necessary services and supports; will serve as a liaison between Early Intervention services for families and community resources; will work cooperatively with CFC staff, EI providers and school district personnel.  The Child and Family Connections Service Coordinator will have significant travel throughout McHenry County, with periodic out of county meetings/trainings.
